How this map was compiled
The goal is to make career routes visible without turning them into advice.
What the figures mean
Three pay slots show the evidence available for entry and later work, with the basis labelled. Editorial bands use roughly five and ten years; public-pay examples may instead use five or ten matrix increments at current rates, which are not guaranteed calendar-year outcomes. The original 32 routes retain editorial market estimates. Added routes use scoped public-pay scenarios, published campus cohorts or an explicit evidence gap. These measures are not interchangeable. Shared routes have one page and can appear under several streams; stream counts overlap.
The estimates are editorial judgements with links to salary aggregators, hiring-market references and narrower government or institutional anchors. The current data does not document a reproducible calculation or sample for each band. References may describe a different role, experience level or pay convention; they do not validate the exact bounds. These are not measured national percentiles, guaranteed offers or maximum earning potential. Employer, city, institution, specialisation, hours, gaps between jobs, self-employment costs and individual performance can change actual income sharply.
How to read a wide range
A wide band is deliberate when one title covers different tracks. For example, a doctor may remain an MBBS medical officer or specialise and build private practice; a software engineer may work in IT services or a product company; a dentist may be a salaried associate or run a clinic. Revenue from a practice is not the same as personal take-home pay.
Source rules
Government scenarios identify basic pay and included allowances; gross is before deductions, not take-home. Later-service or promotion examples are not automatic ten-year outcomes. Campus statistics describe the named cohort, not everyone in that occupation. No figures are invented to fill unsupported rungs.
Every editorial estimate links to a background reference and shows the date of the estimate, which is not a claim that the linked page was published or checked on that date. Sources retains historical published anchors and documented gaps. Basic salary, allowances, CTC, business revenue and take-home income are different measures; these bands are not a like-for-like compensation survey. The current build contains 57 routes.
What is deliberately absent
There is no quiz, recommendation engine, ranking, account, email capture, comment system, advertising, affiliate link, or personal profile.
