Assistant professor and college lecturer

First question

What does this person do?

College teaching involves lectures, tutorials, assessment, academic administration and, depending on the institution, research and student supervision.

Regular university posts, guest faculty and private colleges have different contracts and pay.

Next question

What are they paid?

LPA = lakhs per annum; ₹1 lakh = ₹100,000. Illustration for a regular central-university/college post, using the academic Level 10 matrix, verified 60% DA and adopted central allowance rules. Low: no HRA/lower-city transport; high: Delhi 30% HRA/higher-city transport. Before tax and employee deductions; excludes pension contributions and housing value. Guest, contract and private-college pay is not measured.
