Science route

Postgraduate teacher: science subjects

You teach a subject in classes 11–12 after subject study and teacher training.

First question

What does this person do?

You teach a specialist subject to senior-secondary pupils, prepare lessons and practical work, set and mark assessments, and support students preparing for board examinations. The work also includes records, meetings and school duties.

NVS is residential: its notice includes student-welfare and house duties and campus accommodation where available. Its separate residential allowance is excluded from these examples.

Next question

What are they paid?

LPA = lakhs per annum; ₹1 lakh = ₹100,000. Regular public-post illustration using the verified DA, HRA and transport rules. Low: no HRA and lower-city transport; high: Delhi HRA and higher-city transport. Before tax and employee deductions; excludes pension contributions, accommodation value and special allowances. Private/contract pay is not measured. Check employer adoption and personal eligibility.

Scale: ₹ lakhs per annum. These examples are not a salary ceiling or a promise of progression.

Later rungs mean five or ten matrix increments at the same level, calculated at the currently verified allowance rates. They are not guaranteed pay after five or ten calendar years, future-rate forecasts or a ceiling. Longer service, selection grades and promotion can raise pay. Annual figures annualise a normal eligible month; actual yearly transport entitlement can vary.

What it takes to get in

Entrance exam
KVS/NVS recruitment or the relevant state/Delhi recruitment. The reviewed PGT rows do not require CTET.
Realistic cut-off
The reviewed KVS/NVS notice generally requires a relevant postgraduate qualification with 50% and recognised teacher training, with integrated alternatives and subject-specific conditions. Age and category relaxations are notice-specific. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee selection. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics require the subject at graduation too. Biology, Biotechnology and Computer Science have their own permitted qualifications; check the exact subject row.

Approximate, tuition only, excluding coaching and living costs unless the source text says otherwise.

Can you switch out later?
The subject or technical training can transfer to related roles. A new employer may require additional qualifications, examinations or experience.

Delhi entry paths

These are the routes people in Delhi commonly take into this career. This is not a ranking of institutions and does not list cut-offs for any particular college.

  • Choose a recognised qualifying programme and verify its subject combination against the post you want.
  • Delhi-based study does not guarantee a Delhi posting; recruitment and location depend on the employer.
